The More the Merrier - Level 3 Hostess Set

I can tell you're going to be seeing a lot of this color combination over the next few months - I just love Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, and Chocolate Chip together.  I also love the new Polka Dot ribbon that comes in all of the new In Colors.  The best part?  It only has polka dots on one side.  Since this card uses Very Vanilla, I didn't like the white polka dots on the ribbon......so I flipped it over!  What do you think?

Hostess Appreciation Party Invite

Last night was my annual Hostess Appreciation Party.  Every year I throw a fabulous bash to celebrate my fabulous hostesses!  This year was no different.  They stamped several cards, ate tasty food (at least I thought it was tasty), and won FANTASTIC door prizes.  Some lucky winners even went home with some of the new In Color Paper.  Other lucky winners won brand new stamp sets, accessories, Decor Elements, Designer Series Paper, Ribbon, and more!  They also got to take advantage of some fantastic promotions I offered just for the evening.  Half of the attendees have already booked parties for this next catalog!  They certainly don't want to miss out on the fun next year....and neither do you!  Contact me to book your own workshop!!!

Too Much Razzle???

So, I've been planning projects for my Hostess Appreciation Party this Saturday.  I've been struggling with the third project.  I'm in love with the first two!!!  Would you believe that this card started out as Rich Razzleberry, Certainly Celery, and Chocolate Chip???  NONE of those colors made it onto this card!!!  Instead you've got TONS of Dusty Durango and Crushed Curry!!!  I'm LOVIN' the fact that we have In Color Markers!!!  To get the multi-colored image, I actually stamped in Crushed Curry then added Dusty Durango using my marker....'cause I'm too lazy to marker the whole thing!!!

But...the real question....is there just too dang much goin' on on this card???

Out With the Old, In With the New!

I'm SO excited, cases upon cases of new Stampin' Up! catalogs arrived on my doorstep this morning!  They're here just in time for this weekend's Hostess Appreciation Party.  It's a fabulous bash I throw each year for my hostesses.  One of the added benefits?  They are the first of my customers to get their hands on the new catalogs! 

I've also managed to strip my classroom of the old In Colors and old catalogs.  They will be missed.  I'd show you a picture of my classroom, but that would include showing you the cover of the catalog - which is strictly forbidden until next Wednesday (at least online).

Totally Tool

Here's the card I made for my dad for Father's Day.  My dad is VERY handy.  I knew I'd use the Totally Tool stamp set to make his card!  I'm also stuck on the Sepia Photo Technique!  I've made several projects lately that feature it - and taught it in Technique Day 4 earlier this month.  This technique is also perfect for my dad....he's a photographer!

Jessica's Sweet 16 Card

This past weekend we celebrated my step-daughter's 16th birthday!  I've previously shared the invites.  Her color scheme was hot pink, black, and silver.  So, naturally, her card had to coordinate!  I made a larger-than-normal card for me.  It was 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 (a full piece of card stock folded in half).  At first I was worried I wouldn't be able to cover that much real estate, but no worries!  It turned out just fine!

Kelly's Birthday Card

Time to Celebrate!

I made this card for one of my fellow demonstrators, Ilina.  She's amazing!  She is a super-duper talented stamper.  But she has also just finished graduate school.  So, we all got together and made her cards to celebrate the occasion. 

I love the bright and summery combination of colors.  I tried to use In-Colors, but I thought Summer Sun was a bit brighter and worked better than the curry with the Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo.  Besides - I had corduroy buttons in Summer Sun!

Big Shot Movers & Shapers Curly Label (and a Sneak Peek)

I purchased the Movers & Shapers Big Shot Die quite awhile ago but haven't used it until now.  In fact, I buried the first one that I made the expensive mistake of buying a second one!!!  Ouch.  As part of the sneak peek for the new catalog, Stampin' Up! allowed us to purchase a set of dies that work with the Movers & Shapers Die.

Let me take a step back and explain this die.  A lot of people weren't really sure what it was when looking at the catalog.  And, because I hadn't gotten around to demonstrating it, no one learned from me!  It's a big die that will actually cut and score an invitation-size card base.  But, what makes this die special is that it comes with a magnetic, moveable piece that you can position to cut a window anywhere on your card front.  Sure, you can punch windows with your punches.  However, our punches are designed to only punch through 1 layer of card stock.  However, as you probably know, the Big Shot will cut through several.  The Movers & Shapers Die comes with a moveable piece that coordinates with the Curly Label Punch.  However, in the next catalog, you can purchase a set that coordinates with three more punches - including the brand new Modern Label Punch.

Big Shot Quilt Card

Earlier this month, Claire hosted a Diva Night for her top-performing demonstrators for a given quarter.  She always feeds us dinner and then plans several projects for us to make.  And oh...there are also prizes!!!  It's always a fun night.  And, to make things even more fun, several of us had a copy of the new catalog so we had fun browsing through all of the new stuff!!! 

This card was inspired by one she designed for us.  It's a great way to use up lots of DSP scraps!  We took 12 DSP scraps 1.25" x 1.25" and glued them down, side-by-side, to a piece of whisper white card stock - 5" x 3.75".  Once they were glued down, we ran them through the Big Shot using the Top Note Die to make a fabulous quilted background!

Big Shot Beach Box

Each month any of my customers who have purchased the Big Shot get to attend a free class!  This month I let them check out some of the new dies and make some cute projects!

This was the first project - a beach scene box.  Perfect for summer.  These were designed by demonstrator BJ Peters.  We're making a box each month!

Upsy Daisy - Custom Stamp-a-Stack

The third and final card I designed for Cheryl's Custom Stamp-a-Stack is this one!  I used Upsy Daisy as the primary image.  Cheryl asked for a card that used the Texturz Plates for the Big Shot.  You can't see it very well, but there are embossed polka dots on the whisper white card stock. 

I found this color scheme in the Idea Book and Catalog.  I wish I had discovered it sooner.  I LOVE it!!!  It's Baja Breeze, Barely Banana, and Ruby Red.  UGH!  I could have been making cards with this color scheme for the past year!!!  Oh well.

I also had to use up some more of my In Color Accessories - Baja Breeze Ribbon and the Baja Breeze Buttons from Button Bouquet.  I had about 80 of these buttons...I don't need 80 Baja Breeze Buttons!!!

Always In My Thoughts - Custom Stamp-a-Stack

Here's the second of the three cards that I designed for Cheryl's Custom Stamp-a-Stack.  She specifically requested cards that could be used as "Get Well" or "Sympathy".  This stamp set popped in my head immediately.  It's got great sentiments for just those occasions.  And, a very flexible image!  This stamp set is retiring at the end of June, so if you like it, order it soon!!!

Knowing that the current catalog was coming to a close, I used some accessories I might not normally use.  I was trying to use up some DSP I've struggled with for the past few months - Jackpot (in hopes that it would retire - it didn't).  I don't have many occasions to make card-playing/gambling-themed cards.  But, if you check out some of the patterns, they do not resemble card games in any way!

Garden Greetings - Custom Stamp-a-Stack

 A couple of weeks ago one of my customers asked if I would design a stamp-a-stack for her and her friends.  Of course I would!!!  I'll be glad to design a class for you and your friends too.  She wasn't worried about earning hostess benefits (but she did anyway).  She just wanted to throw a party for her friends - many of whom had never stamped.  They all left with a stack of 12 cards for all occasions.  And, we created a bunch of new stampin' fans!

I have people who constantly comment that they're not creative and can't come up with ideas.  Well, let me tell you...I have those days too!!!  The day that I sat down to design the cards was one of those days.  So, I turned to the Idea Book and Catalog for some ideas.  I came across a card on page 55 of the current catalog.  It uses Garden Greetings.  I obviously changed up the colors...a lot!  My customer's daughter squealed when she saw the card.  Garden Greetings was on her wish list and she wanted to make that card!  I am never embarrassed to admit that I've cased a card.

Jessica's Sweet 16 Party - Take 2!

Last week I shared with you the invitations we made for Jessica's Sweet 16 Party down in Ocean City, NJ.  Today I'm sharing with you the invitation we made for her friends and family.  She designed this card and we made about 50 of them a couple of weeks ago! 

Her theme is 80's...even though she was born in the 90's!  We struggled with the wording, but the good ol' internet gave us this one:

She heat embossed the guitar and microphone from Family Accessories Too.  The cards are being mailed in clear cello envelopes.

Sneak Peek - On a Pedestal

Here's a sneak peek stamp set you won't see everywhere.  I've actually had this stamp set since January!  I received it as a reward for doing something after attending a Regional Conference in Orlando.  I didn't even realize I had qualified for anything!  It just showed up in my mailbox one day!  How fun is that?!?!?  This is the first time I'm using it!

You will see this stamp set in the new catalog.  I made this card as my monthly swap card for the Philly Inkers Downline Meeting.  I figured a lot of us would be using stamp sets from the new catalog.  But, I like to be different.  I knew none of them had this stamp set!  PERFECT!

I turned to my Rich Razzleberry again - remember my post from Sunday?  I think I blew through at least 1/3 of the roll of ribbon.  UGH!  I can't order more until July 1.  Oh well.  The color scheme is similar to Sunday's card (because I made this on Sunday starting with the scraps from that card)!

Tastefully Simple Party

I love Tastefully Simple.  I use lots of their products to serve my customers - they're fast, easy, and use few ingredients.  So, to get free stuff, I hosted a party last Friday night.  However, I had to incorporate stamping, right??!?!?!

First, I refused to use the post cards that the consultant provided as invitations.  I'm a stamper - I needed to make my own invitations!  I used the Eastern Blooms Stamp Set with some Real Red, YoYo Yellow, and Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink with some coordinating card stock.  It took less than an hour to cut, stamp, and assemble 30 invitations.

Next came the actual party.  I stopped by one of my favorite stores, Crate & Barrel, to pick up some teeny tiny Martini Glasses to serve one of the beverages.  But, I picked up some napkins - without even thinking about it, they coordinated with the color of my invitations!

Finally, the consultant provided these plastic cups for the samples with labels.  I cannot use plastic cups.  It's against everything I believe in.  So, my colors coordinated with my dishes - I think we might have used 40 plates!  Then I went completely overboard and made little tents for each of the foods.  Each of the 20 were different.  My husband got a kick out of it.  I showed him the first one.  About 20 minutes later I came out with 4 more.  He laughed because he knew he should have realized I wouldn't make 20 identical little cards!

Sneak Peek - Circle Circus

After a busy, but fabulous weekend, I sat down today to FINALLY play with all of the new stuff that arrived last Tuesday.  I ordered EVERYTHING that we were allowed - are any of you surprised?  I think I managed to get 36 packs of card stock and patterned paper, 6 rolls of ribbon, 12 ink pads, 6 markers, re-inkers, and quite a few stamp sets!  Oh...and the new punch and new dies, too!

First up...Circle Circus!  I thought this was a fun stamp set that coordinated with so many of our punches.  I chose to punch with a punch that was slightly smaller than each of the stamped images.  I didn't want a border around the designs.  However, if you don't mind the border, you could use larger punches.  I wanted it to appear that I'd punched the pieces out of patterned paper.  What do you think?

Here's another revelation...the In Color I'm turning to most, Rich Razzleberry!  What?!?!?!  It's a PURPLE?!?!  I hate purples!  Maybe I've finally found a purple I love.  I thought I would have been reaching for Soft Suede or Bermuda Bay first.

So Many Toys....

Demonstrators across America started receiving some of the products from the new catalog today.  I'm thrilled that I was one of them.  I stayed up late on Sunday night and got up REALLY early Monday morning to make sure I was at the front of the line!  I LOVE the new products.  I've already got the new In-Colors filed away in their own special box, the extra packs of paper on my shelves, and one of the stamp sets assembled.  But, what did I make first?  I'll share a picture...

If you checked out the Last Chance Decor Elements list, you'll notice that A LOT of them are retiring.  Well, Stampin' Up! shared with us a few of the new Decor Elements as well.  I'm sure this one is designed with a little boy's room in mind, but I thought it would be PERFECT for my classroom.  My husband certainly thinks so!  He thinks it is perfect up over all of my punches.

Sweet 16 Invitations

Hi friends!!!  Some of you have started to e-mail me to see if I'm still alive.  I'm here.  I'm kicking!  No worries - I've been stamping up a storm - a couple of hundred cards to be exact!!!  Okay, well 100 of them were my wedding thank you cards.  Then there were the Tastefully Simple Invitations, the Hostess Appreciation Party Invitations, the Sweet 16 Party Invitations, and all of the projects for my stamping classes!  Whew!  No worries...I took photos of everything.  First up is a snazzy birthday party invitation.

Saturday I had the pleasure of stamping with my new step-daughter and her mom.  She's turning 16 next month and is having TWO birthday celebrations.  So, we had to design two invitations.  This first invitation is for a handful of her friends.  She's taking her friends down to the Jersey Shore for the weekend.  Because we only needed 4, we were able to add some extra special touches.

The inspiration was a cross between my wedding invitations - which Jess helped to assemble - and a card in the Occasions Mini Catalog.
