Diva Night

Each quarter my "upline", Claire, hosts a Diva Night where she cooks a yummy dinner, plans several projects, and gives us door prizes!  Tonight was one  of those nights.  To be eligible to attend Diva Night we must meet certain criteria - lots of us strive to earn it every quarter because it's so fun.  Here are the projects we made tonight!

Kind & Caring Thoughts

I do like this card a lot...the colors are similar to yesterday's card, but I made them weeks apart from each other.  This was another card we made at last weekend's stamp-a-stack.  It made a great sympathy card.  Or, since the back side of the DSP had elephants that coordinated with Animal Stories stamp set, it made a cute kid's card too.  How's that for a flexible design??

Autumn Days

I designed this card for my Die Cut Divas, but my husband told me the inside didn't match with the outside so it got scrapped.  But, I still love the card front!  I didn't think I liked the Pheasant, but he's growing on me.  The pheasant brings back memories of my childhood.  My grandfather shot a pheasant and had it stuffed.  We carried that silly, stiff, dead bird around like a pet.  Gross, huh?

Falling Leaves

Have you tried this color scheme?  Rich Razzleberry paired with Celery (or Olive), Bashful  Blue, and Kraft.  I love it!  I designed this card for last week's stamp-a-stacks....18 people made 4 of these cards each!

Medallion

I've been having so much fun stamping with my new stamps.  This one uses the Medallion Stamp Set.  It was one of the first stamps I sold out of the new catalog.  it has so much potential for weddings and backgrounds and scrapbooking and cards.  This is a really basic card.  I simply stamped the Medallion image in Melon Mambo Classic Ink on Mellon Mambo Card Stock.  I really like the Melon Mambo paired with Basic Black.  The sentiment is from the Level 3 Hostess Set - Kind & Caring Thoughts - I love that set!!!

Chic Boutique

I've been working on my swaps for convention.  I challenged myself this year to use some colors I wouldn't normally use.  I wanted to use Tempting Turquoise so that I can use up some buttons....problem is, the buttons didn't make it onto the card!  This is a more complex version of my convention swap.  I'm making 96 this year....one pack of paper for the card bases.  I'm absolutely in love with this color combo now.  Who would have thought....pumpkin pie and turquoise?

Stamp-a-Stack Reject - Greetings Earthling

I spent several days earlier this week designing the cards for this weekend's stamp-a-stack.  I really make it hard on myself when I design cards for these classes. 

Here are the "rules" I impose on myself:  The cards can't use the same colors.  The cards can't all have the same style.  The cards must be different "orientations" (landscape vs portrait).  The stamps can't all be flowers.  The cards have to be adaptable for various occasions - and accomodate various sentiments.  The cards can't all use the Big Shot (even though I have enough Big Shots to cover all 3 projects)!  The cards can't all use the same punches.  The cards can't be too labor-intensive (everyone makes 4 of each).  The cards have to take about the same amount of time to make or there will be a "traffic jam".  PLUS, this time around I wanted every card to include a new catalog stamp set and new In Colors - and I had to avoid Bermuda Bay ink.  Whew!  No, I really don't need to put that much thought into it, but I like to think that all of these "unofficial rules" make my stamp-a-stacks great!  Are you tired just reading my list? 

So, I'm sharing with you one of the rejects from my design session.  Why did it get ruled out?  Well, it's a boring layout and time-consuming.  But, it did meet the rest of my criteria - and showcased the markers and a new punch.  But, it was those same markers that would slow this project down!!!  I love the Lots of Bots and Greetings Earthling stamp sets.  When I designed this card, I planned to put both sets on the table so that everyone could mix it up.  The images are all relatively the same size.

Halloween Swap

I made this card as my swap for our July Philly Inkers meeting earlier in the week.  They were picking on me for swapping a Halloween card!  But, I have been looking at the new Groom Specialty Paper and the new Eggplant Rick-Rack ribbon and they screamed Halloween to me.  I hadn't received any of the new Halloween stamps yet, but House of Haunts did the trick!  I also thought this card absolutely needed some Pumpkin Pie ribbon.  But, the only Pumpkin Pie ribbon that we offer is narrow grosgrain or striped stuff that just wasn't matching the mood of this card.  So, I made my own!  I pulled out some White Satin ribbon, my Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink Pad, and a sponge dauber.  A few minutes later, I had EXACTLY the look I was aiming for.  What do you think?
