Stampin' and Scrappin' With Kristin

And the Winner Is....

Last Saturday was my annual Hostess Appreciation Party!  I invited close to 50 hostesses from this past year (July 2009 - June 2010 hostesses).  About 20 were able to attend.  It's really awesome....SEVEN of them loved hosting their workshop SO much, they went on to become demonstrators this past year! 

They were treated to snacks - including a fabulous cake decorated by my step-daughter, Jessica.  It was a hit!  They also were able to make a couple of projects and enter for various products.  But, my favorite part of the night was the contest!  At one table, I placed a variety of supplies:  Island Oasis DSP, Tropical Party Stamp Set, coordinating ink, ribbon, a punch, and some retiring buttons.  They were not allowed to borrow supplies from the other tables.  None of the supplies were pre-cut.  They had a blank canvas to create their masterpiece.  Eight of the attendees chose to enter.  The prize?  A $25 shopping spree from the new catalog!

At my demonstrator meeting last night, I had the 12 demonstrators in attendance vote for their favorite.  And the winner?  Andrea R!  Her card is displayed up there at the top  The additional entries are shown below!  I love the variety!  The card designers are listed below each card.

Die Cut Birthday

Wow!  It must be birthday week or something!  I just realized that's the theme of a lot of my cards recently.  Today's card is one of the projects this month's Die Cut Divas are making.  I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever used these dies from the Big Bold Cupcake Sizzlits pack.  I thought the Island Oasis DSP was very festive and used it on this card!  I love how the sprinkles coordinate with the polka dots on the DSP.  I used Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, and So Saffron.  I cut the icing out of Shimmery White Card Stock to make it appear just a bit more frosted.  Do I have too many colors going on at once here?  I couldn't decide!

Masculine Birthday?

What do you think?  I certainly think this one would pass as a masculine birthday card.  I have had SO much fun playing with all of my new stuff.  I promise, I'll try to put away the turquoise and pumpkin!  Does it help that I paired it with vanilla and kraft this time?

The sentiment on this card is one of those fabulous single stamps in the back of the Summer Mini.  It goes for $7.95.  I think it's a must have!  There's also a graduation stamp I'm in LOVE with!  We needed some good grad stamps...and this new mini delivers!

Do you like the DSP in the background?  That's new too!  That's an awesome masculine set of DSP called "Travel Journal".  It coordinates with Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, Kraft, Night of Navy, and Bashful Blue.  Would you have paired those colors together???  Not me!  SU is definitely mixing it up!

Again, I added just a bit of texture with the new Square Lattice Impressions Folder.  If you don't own a Big Shot, you will after using this! 

I'll try to keep the posts coming!  I'll be making LOTS of samples to share at the Woodstown High School Crop Day on Saturday, April 17th!  There's still time to register!

A Refreshing Sneak Peek

I stamped this card last Friday (and blogged this post) while I was CRAVING my first ice cream cone from our local Scoop Shop...Elmer Twist.  My husband told me they opened this week, but I'm waiting for him to get home so we can take a walk together.  We also have a birthday party to go to tomorrow and I thought this would be a perfect card!  I think I need to make a second to keep for my display!

This card uses a couple more sneak peeks from the Summer Mini.  The stamp set is an obvious one....more on that in a minute.  But, hold your horses!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this color combo!  I know, I know...more Pumpkin Pie and Turquoise.  But, this time I threw in some Rose Red!  Who woulda thunk it?  Not me!  But, there it is on page 27 of the Summer Mini Catalog in the Island Oasis DSP!  SU rocked my color world yet again!  I love the new, bright, fresh color combinations they're bringing us!

If you are one of those blog/internet surfers out there looking for new stamps, you've seen this one around.  It's actually from the Summer Mini Catalog BUT, I've had it for MONTHS!  I earned it for free during a Regional Conference contest back in January!  I've seen lots of samples out there.  The stamp set is called Sweet Scoops.  SO CUTE!

I stamped the rounded scoops first in Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red.  Then, using the masking technique, I stamped the cones in Creamy Caramel.  The middle guy is Tempting Turquoise and he was also masked before I stamped the Creamy Caramel cone, cut him out, and popped him up with dimensionals.  I probably didn't need to mask it, but it was simple.

I also made it more difficult on myself and punched several 3/4" circles and glued them to the bottom.  Sure, I could have used my scallop edge punch, but I wanted them to be bigger and coordinate with the scoops.

Summer Mini Sneak Peek

Are you ready for another new sneak peek?  Unfortunately, you have to wait to buy this one.  But, I can still share the card.  This stamp set and Impressions Folder will be in the Summer Mini Catalog that comes out in 28 days...but who's counting???  I'm in love with Turquoise and Pumpkin these days.  It's such a bright and sunny color combo!  I hope you like it, becuase I'll probably be using it....a lot!

I stamped the bicycle image from the Pedaling Past Stamp Set in Jet Black Stazon Ink.  I colored it with my Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, and Basic Gray markers.  I could have watercolored it, but I wanted it to be crisp and bright!  I colored the Thank You image from the same set with my Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise markers.  It's not exactly straight (I know) but I didn't want to color another bike!  I wanted to move onto another project!!!

I added some Tempting Turquoise ribbon and little Flower Brads as embellishments.

The Pumpkin Pie layer was embossed using the Big Shot and the BRAND NEW Square Lattice Impressions Folder.  This is a MUST HAVE if you have a Big Shot!  LOVE the nice, deep, crisp texture it makes!
