We made it to Salt Lake City and had a wonderful day touring the area!
We landed around 10am on a plane packed full of demonstrators from the Philly area. We headed to the hotel where we met new friends and Mary Ellen. After waiting for our room to be ready and then waiting for a room with TWO beds so I didn't have to spoon with Kristin A all week and getting changed, we headed out to the Olive Garden for lunch. Whew!
Our next stop was the convention center. I PROMISED the girls it was okay to enter. Apparently I was wrong! We were quickly and politely asked to leave by Stampin' Up! staff! She asked what we were doing in the building - and I was prepared with a reason - we needed a restroom. We were also asked to not post any of the photos we had taken of the gorgeous decorations. Oh well. Then it was onto Temple Square. It's my fourth year attending convention here in SLC and I've never visited Temple Square. It's really sad because it's literally 1 block from our hotel. Pathetic, I know. We wandered around the gardens then headed to the Visitor's Center where we were given a guided tour by a couple of wonderful girls. Next we hit the library across the street to learn more about our ancestors. I traced my dad's family back through to the 1600s! I tracked my mom's side back to where her grandfather came over from Germany. His family had 2 bags, they confirmed their occupations, and I've always heard that the spelling of their last name was changed - and it was - several times! Then it was time for another convention tradition - dinner at the Blue Iguana. The service is never good but the food is. Finally, after dinner we headed back and exchanged convention gifts. Mary Ellen gave us the cutest boxes filled with homemade fudge. Kristin gave us convention survival kits packed full of essentials. Thanks girls! I'm posting from my iPad app so I'm not sure how my photos will show up.
