I belong to a FANTASTIC group of demonstrators - the Philly Inkers. We are led by another one of the Top 100 Demonstrators in the US, Claire Lawrence! Our group has gotten so large that we only get the chance to gather as a whole group quarterly. We have two, BIG, all-day events in the Spring and Fall. Then we do smaller gatherings in the Winter and Summer. Last Saturday was our smaller gathering. We had a Shoebox Swap and Brunch in PA. After chowing down on a scrumptious brunch, we stamped a dozen cards. If you're unfamiliar with a shoebox swap, each attendee designs a card and brings along the supplies for everyone else in attendance to make her card. We leave with twelve gorgeous cards - all very different. Here are the cards we made last Saturday (I think I correctly remembered the designers of each). The card I designed looked just like the card I posted yesterday but in Pool Party, Island Indigo, and Old Olive.
Chris designed this bright and fun card that highlights the coordination of products (embossing folder, DSP, and stamps). It's one of my absolute favorite color combinations.
Next up is a card that was designed by Claire. It uses a couple of products that I don't own yet! The stamp set is one I completely overlooked in the catalog. And the Pool Party layer is embossed with one of our new embossing folders (mine will be here early next week). I may totally have to case her layout!
The next card was designed by one of my downline members, Gail. This card is TOTALLY not her style. I love it!! (However, I love her traditional style as well.) I will totally be layering scalloped border punches in the very near future!!! Also, notice that Gail and Claire used the same ribbon - but because Gail wasn't using white on her card, we flipped it over so that the solid side showed.
The next card was designed by Gina. I ALWAYS forget about easel cards. So I was thrilled when Gina designed one. And, what a great color combo - I wouldn't have thought to throw in Basic Gray!
This next card was designed by Ginny. I love the softness of this card. Ginny also taught us a trick on how to not waste paper when layering two pieces of DSP on top of each other. I usually waste half a sheet of something that's hidden behind one of the layers.
This next card was designed by Heather. Oh wow, until these two cards were posted next to each other, I didn't even realize they both chose to use the same set! The colors and layout are so different! (I'm posting these in alphabetical order.) I love how Heather had us stamp the image twice. And, I'm pretty pleased with my sponging job on this one if I may say so myself!
The next card was designed by Juliana. I'm sure gonna miss this stamp set. She designed this awesome masculine card that can be used for just about any occasion.
This next card was designed by another one of my downline members, Lynn. Lynn found this color combo in the Color Coach. And, what a great one it is!!! She used the new Doily Triple Layer Punch (one I struggle to like). But, I like how she layered them here and threaded the ribbon through. You will probably see me using this punch more now!!!
This next card was designed by Michelle. She used the faux suede technique and had us do some distressing. I love the look! Michelle also broke out of her mold and used bright colors. I totally love this card (and will be buying the background stamp because of it).
This next card was designed by Nikki. I absolutely love the idea. You can't tell from the photo, but the DSP is laced through the card base! What a fun idea. And, to show us all up, she even had us descorate the inside. Many of you know that I forget that there is an inside to a card!!!
Last but certainly not least is a card designed by Tara. Tara has a very unique style that I love. She does things that I certainly wouldn't have thought of. I love her bumble bee border down the left side of the card. And, she reminded me of the masking technique!!! I love that she masked the bird (or chicken if you're Tara) to stamp the fern/weed in the background.
