Yesterday we celebrated my nephew's third birthday. This is the card I made for him. Okay, so maybe it's not exactly age-appropriate. Something featuring cute punch art may have worked better. But, that's not the direction I took.
I chose to feature the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper and use the Mojo Monday 319 layout. The colors included Bermuda Bay, Crisp Cantaloupe, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, and Very Vanilla.
I used a couple of techniques on this card. First, I heat embossed the Bermuda Bay sentiment. I didn't want the color to run when I colored in the Birthday with Summer Starfruit.
Next, I wanted wide Bermuda Bay ribbon. We don't have any. So, I took the Cotton Ribbon, dyed it with my Bermuda Bay marker, then blended with a sponge dauber and water. PERFECT!
Now, what you can't see in this picture is that I actually cut out and popped up several of the birthday hats in the smaller circle. Three, to be exact. Three for his third birthday. I'm sure no one picked up on that little, subtle detail. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut the circles and free-hand cut the banners.
What do you think? It's not my favorite card. I actually REALLY struggled with it. But, I thought I'd share it with you.
