I always love to get the mail - even if it only contains bills and junk mail. I love it. But, December has to be the BEST month for mail! I've already received a couple dozen Christmas cards in the mail. And, I'm excited to say that the majority of them have been hand-stamped!!! I will be posting all of the cards I receive on my website throughout the month.
But, first, how do you display your Christmas cards? I came up with this idea this year - it was adapted from an idea a co-worker showed me last year. I don't exactly remember the display, but I think it showed cards hanging on ribbons, attached with clothespins, hung from the kitchen cabinet. It's the same display that has inspired my open house displays recently. Well, this season, I decided to string them as you see below. I'm LOVING it...well, when I'm not too OCD that they all aren't the same size or hanging the right direction. I found these awesome 1-3/4" clothepins online. They're PERFECT. Regular clothespins are just too big. I bought HUNDREDS of them last month - so I'm prepared for LOTS of cards!!! But, really, I'm ready for my next open house!
I have a feeling that I'll have to lose the "be merry" banner at some point this season (or so I hope) to make room for more cards. It is helpful that my dining room walls are green! It makes for a festive display! I used some hemp twine and those cool removable hanger clippy things that don't take off your paint!
So, would you like to see some of these cards up close? I'll be sharing a few each day in no particular order.
This first card was created by one of my demonstrators, Hallie. It's an amazing card. I'm thinking she must have masked Santa and then sponged color over the map. I never would have thought to use the map background stamp for a Christmas card - but a couple of you did!
This next card was made by one of my customers, Rita. Her card is absolutely stunning! I never would have thought to go black and white, but it's gorgeous! I'm not sure if you can tell from the photo, but I believe she used the dryer sheet technique. I love it!
The third and final card I'm sharing today was created by Debi, another customer. She hand-delivered this card ('cause mailing that brad would have destroyed the card). And, the flower didn't get squished. Can you see the gold shimmer on the flower in the photo? It's gorgeous. I love the vintage look of this card. I love how she used the same embossing folder but used both sides of the embossed design to add dimension.
I'm in complete awe over the cards I've received. I feel a little guilty that mine weren't as involved as some of these. Check back tomorrow for the next set of cards created by YOU!
