Santa Stache!

I have fallen completely in love with Santa Stache.  I loved coloring and shading Santa's hat using my Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities and his face using the skintones.  It was nice to sit down and color for the fun of it last weekend!  I stamped his mustache a second time and cut it out using the Mustache Framelits Die in the Annual Catalog.  It's SO fun!  I can't wait to go color the nutcracker image!

I layered my Santa over some Whisper White, Garden Green, and Sahara Sand Cardstock along with some of the Trim a Tree DSP stack.  I added just a little bling to his had using my two-way glue pen and dazzling diamonds.

Twelve Weeks of Halloween - Week 1

Did you know that there are only 12 weeks until Halloween?  I've never done a 12 Weeks of Halloween series before (I usually don't even think about early enough)!  But, I did this year!  I'll be honest....we'll see if I make it all 12 weeks!  I always have the best of intentions.  Can you relate?  I already have 2-1/2 projects complete so I'm off to a good start.

Today's project is a framed Halloween decoration.  You'll see these Halloween characters in a couple of different formats in this year's Holiday Catalog.  I've stamped them here using the Freaky Friends Stamp Set.  But, they're also the main characters in the coordinating Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper.  I've used that Designer Series Paper to cover my cheapo frame from Ikea.  It's just one of those basic 4x6 wood frames that come in a 3-pack.  I've taken the photo on an angle so you can see that I "stained" the edges of my frame using Bermuda Bay ink.

This year's Halloween DSP has a rather untraditional color-combo.  There is no Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie!  Nope!  This year's color combo is Basic Black, Bermuda Bay (WHAT?), Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, and Whisper White.  And, I've gotta admit, some of the lighter images sure look like Calypso Coral (HUH?).  But, you know what?  I'm digging the fresh color scheme.

So, I also have to admit...when I saw Freaky Friends, I didn't think "Blendabilities".  But, ya know what?  It's PERFECT for Blendabilities!  I used them on today's project to color in some of the white spaces and it TOTALLY WORKS!  Besides Freaky Friends, I also used the Epic Alphabet to stamp "boo!"

All of the black stamping was done using my Memento Ink.  I used the Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate, and Coastal Cabana Blendabilities collections to add the color.

In this class you'll make the four projects displayed below featuring the Cherry Cobbler and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities collections.  Each attendee will be using his/her own set of markers.  You can either choose to include your markers in your class fee, or BYOB (Bring Your Own Blendabilities) if you purchased them from me.

Coloring is Fun!

Oh my goodness!  I'm addicted to coloring!  I shared my first attempt at coloring with the new Blendabilities (the new alcohol markers by Stampin' Up!) on Saturday.  Here's my second.  Isn't this flower GORGEOUS!?!?!  I posted it on Instagram after I created it and got TONS of compliments.  I figured it was because I chose a snazzy filter.  But, you know what?  I'm looking at this card again and I have to agree - GORGEOUS if I may say so myself.

I really feel like an artist after I'm done coloring an image!  One person told me I was a "pro" already.  Ha Ha!  I'm not.  I'm an awful colorer.  These markers are just THAT EASY to use!  I can't wait to show you how!

Cute Typewriter!

Today's card is another sneak peek from the upcoming 2014-2015 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  It's also a stamp set that only about 450 demonstrators in the US have in their possession - it was one of the "Favorite Things" that was given out on Monday night at the Catalog Premiere "After Party". 

This card was actually the first card I was going to make when I sat down to play with my new toys from the premiere then I realized that it would be fun to color the typewriter with the Blendabilities!  I knew that I only had about an hour to wait for the UPS man to show up - and I was right!  I used the Daffodil Delight collection of Blendabilities and the new Memento Ink (a must have when working with the Blendabilities).

It is so FUN AND EASY to use the Blendabilities.  I'm not a watercolorer.  I get streaks and I can't seem to get any shading.  WELL....problem solved!  Blendabilities come in packs of 3 shades of the color.  Depending upon the color, the "true" SU color could be any of the light, medium, or dark shades.  It doesn't matter which you start with - you can go from dark to light or light to dark.  You can go back over them and blend.  It's AMAZING!  You'll probably be seeing me color a bit more going forward.

This card is also cased from the new catalog.  It's actually a simplified version of the one SU created.  With the exception of the stamp set and Blendabilities, everything else I used to create this card is available for purchase now:
